Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

This is a Dutch band making their way into the limelight with their debut album. From 2017, this came to notice on Facebook and YouTube, for non Dutch audiences mostly, and received very little promotion elsewhere. I don't know too much about their history and origins, but the musicians in the band all seem to stem from the 70's and 80's, which makes sense really, as their sound harkens back to that era, give or take some modern touches too. Not surprising considering we are in second decade of the 21st century, and judging by the photos, their appearance will strike a chord with many of us over 50's brigade here at GDM.

The Songs
The two guitarists Paul Evers and Aielko Venema share the duties all round, and the songs are hard rockers with a few keyboard touches to fill out the sound. The production is really good, and the collection of material bodes well for the future. The first two trakcs are probably the best on offer. 'Any Way That You Want It' with a sprinkling of synths and melodic backing vocals, while 'Hot Gypsy' was the choice for the band's first video. 'Life's A Bitch' was let down by a vocal whioch didn't quite work, though a good song generally. 'Until The Night Is Through' was much better, adn this prowled along like a classic rocker of old. The synths take hold on the instrumental Interstellar Traveller' in a cinematic way, before blasting the ion engines into overdrive soon after. Great song, reminding me of Praying Mantis in their prime. 'Depending On You' and 'Dream Into Nightmare' continue Hardland's hravier delivery, while 'The Only Answer' was a longstanding ballad from their past which has been dragged unmercifully into the 21st century.

In Summary
Other media have described Hardland as AOR and hard rock. Yes, but only just, but not strictly one or the other. It sits in the heavier realm, so I'd suggest a pigeon-hole called 'hard rock'. The CD is available, with links from their Facebook page and official website. Hardland are presented as another of the less mainstream bands we have covered for 2017.
