Well this is a surprise. One time pop/rock princess Kim Wilde, who proudly shouted 'we're the kids in America' way back in 1981 is back in the limelight with 'Here Come The Aliens'. Unfortunately lovely Kim, I have to disagree with the title. The aliens are already here.. lol They just have their camouflage up, it's just we can't see them. Kim has released over a dozen albums, her last studio album was back in 2014. Her new album is released on several fronts including her own label Wildeflower Records, German label EARMusic for the European market, plus Sony into Australia. She teams up with producer Sean Vincent and her brother and long-time musical cohort Ricky Wilde, to release an album full of pop rock, glam.. all the styles which made the 1978-1981 timeframe enjoyable.

The Songs
Just like the very cool album jacket, Wilde explodes onto the concourse with '1969', a zany and brash outburst of colour and energy. On 'Pop Don't Stop' Kim and her team have borrowed heavily from The Buggles as you can hear from the keyboard intro, but this is as melodic as heck, and worthy of a glory-daze up-thumb! Of course it's the game made famous on Facebook, and Kim has turned 'Kandy Krush' into an instant pop-rocker for the ages. It's not just the opening stanza of songs which appeal. The attraction goes right across the CD, with other standouts including the lush 'Yours 'Til The End', the beautiful ballad 'Solstice' plus the arena pop of 'Rock The Paradiso'.

In Summary
Much like Blondie's return to the public domain last year with their 'Pollinator' album, Kim Wilde is in good form here, and has discovered a recipe that works for her. It's a vampish display, not quite as outrageous as Swedish vixen Erika, but still good enough to capture your senses, whether aural or visual. As mentioned, the songs are all catchy, and I can see myself playing this regularly over the next few weeks. And as for those aliens? I'm sure they are all masquerading as politicians in a Parliament near you!

I had no idea about this and it´s so great to have Kim still making music. Is it me or according to the song Pop Don´t Stop her brother Ricky has some serious AOR vocal skills? Grin

He does have a great voice. Unfortunately on the video 'Pop Don't Stop', you don't hear the Buggles like intro, which has been edited out.

I had a lot of fun with this album. "Pop Don't Stop", the ENTIRE song sounded like Video Killed the Radio Star to me. Catchy as ever none the less.

My favorite moment may be "Cyber Nation War." Kind of a dark, eclectic song, but soooo cool to listen to!
