''And it feels like an illusion... 1989''.

Much like their compatriots ''The Night Flight Orchestra'' these guys are set to take us back in time and they are good - seriously good!.

I feel we're lucky having bands like Nestor, TNFO or Greta Van Fleet that can travel us back to the glory days.
That's a release I'm definitely looking forward to this summer.

Agree, besides the funny throwback to the late 80s in their videos, they sound fantastic to my ears as well.

I'd throw a bit of Houston in there as well.

The funny element behind the videos resembles that of White Wizard. There appears to be a whole concept behind it(priest Bror Morck, Mr Iceman etc. )

I can definitely hear the Houston reference too, especially Houston "II". The colors of the cover reminding it too.

Sebastian Forslund, the guy behind TNFO mixing desk has held the production duties so no surprise we get the same successful retro feel.

I'm very interested in reading more bio info and trivia about the band. It looks like they are not the typical youngsters you see releasing stuff these days. They are probably all aged 40+ and had a school band together back in the late 80's.

To these ears there's definitely some quality here as their songs have been stuck in my head for the better part of the last week or so. I love that production, the liquid lead guitar tone and also the guy's voice is something special - there's some personality to it.

Holy cow does this ever push my AOR buttons. This is why I still dig new music.

Thanks for the link to the podcast on Nestor's Tobias Gustavsson, @george_the_jack!

Not much info on the band elsewhere. I'm halfway into the one-hour episode and enjoying it so far. Interesting to know they originally started in the late 80s and were influenced by mid-80s Kiss.

Did you know Néstor (with an accent) is a fairly common given name here in Argentina? Hence, the band's name sounds funny for Spanish speakers.

You're welcome @dtabachn I was trying to unearth some info about these guys and stumbled upon this podcast which pretty much answers most of the questions I had.

I knew Nestor is common as a birthname in Spanish-speaking countries (as is Hector). I believe there was a well-known Mexican football player (Araujo) with that name too. Nestor was also a wiseman in Greek mythology so it's fairly legitimate (if a bit odd) to newer generations down here.

Anyhow It might sound funny to certain audiences but at least it works great printed as the logo of the band! Doesn't it? ;)

Yes, cool logo. Nothing against the band, just an observation on their name :). Looking forward to the album's release planned for August 2021.
  • I can't stop playing "1989". One of the best songs I've heard in a long time.

It's getting more and more interesting....
BTW I found what this guy's voice reminded me of that I couldn't put my finger on - there's a bit of Kotzen character and quality to these vocals. Probably a bit of Sykes too!
