Wonderful recent interview with Gary Numan.

Lucky and now skint, judging by the winning bid!!

Some lucky Jeff Lynne fan got a real rarity!

Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

Beckies, The - 1976 The Beckies
Anyone remember The Chessman Square? Probably not and neither do I, but they were by all accounts a popular 60's-early 70's Kansas City, Missouri band that featured one Gary Hodgden, who would later find fame as one Gary West, of the band Shooting Star.

Shooting Star - 1979 Shooting Star
My first exposure to this legend of AOR goes right back to my school years. 1980 was when this album first appeared, though it was recorded in 1979.

Shooting Star - 1981 Hang On For Your Life
In over a decade of reviewing AOR albums, it would seem strange that we missed out this LP from one of the genre's most endearing bands: Shooting Star.

Shooting Star - 1982 III Wishes
So it was with trepidation that I decided to review their third album. Having only heard 'III Wishes' recently for the first time, and being a huge fan of the band, I was so disappointed with this that it surely ranks as one of the premier letdowns in melodic rock/AOR history.

Shooting Star - 1983 Burning
I would have no hesitation in saying that 'III Wishes' was a major disappointment. Therefore I was dreading to hear what the Shooting Star/Kevin Elson combination would throw up a second time around. Thankfully, my faith has been restored.

Shooting Star - 1985 Silent Scream
The Ron Nevison production job moves this album right alongside Survivor (a la 'Vital Signs' and 'When Seconds Count'), and as far as I'm concerned .. awesome!!

Shooting Star - 2000 Leap Of Faith
'Leap Of Faith' sort of sits between the 'It's Not Over' album crossed with their mid eighties stuff a la 'Three Wishes' or 'Burning'. Fans of quality melodic rock/AOR should seek this out immediately.

Shooting Star - 2001 Best Of Vol 2
I can honestly say this compilation should be certified 'essential', from bona fide Shooting Star maniacs right through to people just discovering the band. The tracklisting flows effortlessly due to great song selection.

Shooting Star - 2001 Interview with Van McLain (Nov 2001)
Interview with Van McLain, Nov 2001.

Shooting Star - 2006 Circles
2006 sees the return of GDAZE faves Shooting Star. A new album, and new singer Kevin Chalfant.

Shooting Star - 2015 Into The Night
The overall glossiness of previous albums such as the debut or 'Silent Scream' might not be found here. It keeps to the same pedigree as their last couple of studio releases, but I also believe there are some excellent moments to be found, if you dig deep enough.

The Essential Series - 2017 Pomp Rock (Volume 1) by Gdazegod
This is our first volume in this series, you can be assured there will be volumes to follow as there are many Pomp related albums to cover off.
