This was the Swedish band that missed our radar back in 2017.

While some folk were giving these guys a good listen, we at GDM were trying to keep our website afloat after a few technical glitches.

There were a few albums from 2017 we need to catch up on; this is one of them.

As you can see from the band lineup, it's a Swedish supergroup in the making, with members (and former members) of The Poodles, Treat, Palace and Eclipse combining.

It's both modern and classic rock as can be defined by the GDM dictionary and fits like a hand to glove on the Frontiers roster.

The Songs

Gotta laugh at the album jacket, 'worlds mightiest band'. With all Superman meets Indian Jones imagery, you wonder what you're gonna get.

The immediate comparison is a band like Creye, especially from the vocal side of things. The Swedish accent is noticeable from Jakob Samuel, no getting around that angle, but it's no different to other Scandi bands we've heard down through the years.

Highlights for me include the opening pairing of 'Chasing Fire' and 'This Is The Moment', which is a good example of Kryptonite's strengths (excuse the pun), with racy keys, equally racy guitars and loads of chorused vocals.

'Love Can Be Stronger' and the highly infectious 'Get Out Be Gone' are also a pair of tunes worth checking out due to their rockin' energy and uptempo nature.

In Summary

It's funny how The Poodles reference keeps popping up with this album, but there's no question, I much prefer this to the other.

Don't misunderstand me, there's nothing wrong with The Poodles as such, I just never got around to giving them a proper listen. Maybe one day I will.

In the meantime, there's enough here to ensure a second album makes it onto the racks in the years ahead. Let's hope that's the case.

I thought 2017 was a very solid year, and this one one of the albums that, while not a standout to me, gave that year a lot of depth. It would probably be a top-ten contender for many of the years of the decade.
