Here's one from the vaults. One that didn't quite get released when it should have, and reappears in the year 2000 courtesy of our friends over at Rewind/Songhausmusic. Well done chaps. Not sure who was responsible for the deed, but thanks anyway, as a true AOR classic gets the treatment and we all get to hear it as it's meant to in CD format.

Originating from Pittsburgh, but then relocating to Long Island New York, Thrills gradually worked their way through the circuit, and along the way released two albums on the small G&P label called 'First Thrills' and 'Front Page News'. Both have since become collectors items, but not as much as this album, which got shuffled into the safe under lock and key, as the band lost their label and the thing remained unreleased.

Knowing the quality of the recording, prompted individuals to unlock this 'pandoras box', and as they say, the rest is history.

The Songs

The music is an awesome amalgam of bands such as Spys, Twenty Twenty, Charlie, Everest, Sweet Comfort Band, Roadmaster, and many more to boot.

The synth work is very reminscent of Mark Mangold and Frank Reid (Everest), and is very much to the fore through the album. It's not wimpy, and is full of magical hooks, rich choruses, and solo's let loose in the right places.

From the opening strands of 'Running Away' through to the soaring 'It's Too Late', the whole thing is a treat for the discerning melodic rock/AOR diehard fan. In between there are numerous highlights, but it's difficult to pick out a winner as they are all so good.

In Summary

I'm absolutely stoked the band have some more projects in the works, as they indicated on their website (shown below). If it's as good as this, then we are all in for a treat. In the meantime, get over to Songhausmusic and pick up a copy.
